Korean Punchong Pottery

The inspiration for the current collection of ceramics is close to my heart. Korea has a very long tradition of ceramics. And, though China as "big brother" to the region, had an influence, Korea managed to develop it's own distinctive style that was less formal and more exuberant called Punchong.

Punchong wares are known for their expressive forms and surface decorations. Often they tried to imitate more expensive wares but did so in with a particular flair that clearly indicated that the makers had processed the styles and reinterpreted them in a new way.
